Support Education (SupEd PLC ) is a private company, working on introducing "Technology assisted Education System" in Ethiopia and other countries in Africa. We have extended experience in reaching schools and universities with offline digital resources, as a field associate of the WiderNet project based in UNC of USA since 2009 called eGranary. With development of new resources and projects, we established a local Ethiopian company in 2016.
Our company Support Education is working toward being a "one stop education solution" in delivering the digital educational resources and related technology, such as, tablets with local education content, school network installations and solar energy for all the system to be used in the schools and institutions irrespective of the presence of an electrical grid. This makes our projects and products useful everywhere in the country.
University of Alabama at Birmingham Sparkman Center and Support Education entered into agreement with Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Health, in 2016 to develop a "Curriculum based offline digital library system" for General Education and "Course based electronic library system" (CBELES) for health colleges in the country. CEBELS is to be installed in 28 health colleges in the country and we have already assisted with the installations in 13 colleges and are working with the MOH on the next 15 installations.
Curriculum based offline digital resources, grade 9 through 12 grade-specific tablets and school library systems were developed and piloted in two regions (Chacha General Secondary and Preparatory school in Amahara and in Oromia at Burayu General Secondary and Preparatory School). Follow up surveys have been made as well as visits by MOE and regional leadership for assessment of feasibility and acceptability in December 2017. The overall assessment was for this approach and resource be made available to all regions and discussions with all regional leadership took place in March of 2018. There are ongoing plans to follow through with this as well as extend to resource to grades 7/8.
Our coverage is expanding to higher elementary schools and adult literacy, numeracy and lifelong learning through collaborative work with international and local organizations.
Following the revised roadmap of the education system, we are also working on a technology assisted educational lab, in collaboration with Instigate Design of Armenia.
Having organized by professionals from the field of ICT (Software and mobile application development, Computer Networking) Education and management. we are working on Offline digital library system based on the educational curriculum and non structured education.
